Although the chiropractic method of healing was known among the ancients, in the modern era, it was founded in 1895 by Daniel D. Palmer, a Canadian-born practioner who opened (1898) the Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Chiropractic is officially recognized in most states, and many insurance companies now cover chiropractic.
